Living during a pandemic has made going out on a date with your significant other…while not impossible, a little less appealing to say the least. Full disclosure, we have enjoyed a few nights out to dinner during the pandemic- masks and all- and those brief getaways were nice, but Doug and I have been enjoying most of our date nights in the comforts of our beautiful home with our son, Michael, and one of our favorite ways to date during the pandemic is binge-watching great shows. (When we are not working, homeschooling, and have the free time that is!)
Our streaming services are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney+, so when it comes to the shows we love to watch, our list of faves is stacked. Here they are in no particular order (and trust me- there’s something here for everybody!):
1. The Umbrella Academy
We just finished season 2. This show is mildly bizarre, but it works. Number 5 is my favorite.
2. The Haunting of Hill House
If you’re like me, and you love the tv/movie world of horror, you’ve seen this show- and probably more than once. We’re patiently waiting on season two of this anthology series
3. Love Is Blind
I was skeptical of this reality dating show, but once I started watching, I couldn’t stop!
Spoiler alert!: L + C = my favorite couple of all time! (after Doug and me of course 😉)
This show may seem a bit slow at the beginning, but boy does it pick up and before you know it, you’ve finished the whole season and you want more. If you liked Breaking Bad, you’ll love Ozark.
In a list of my top 5 favorite shows ever, this is in the top 3. I love this show and all of the characters. Are you Team Gallagher? Let me know your favorite Gallagher in the comments below!
6. 90 Day Fiancé
Surprisingly, we love watching this show! It has a lot of laughs, shocking moments, and it’s fun to watch cuddled up during date night with a glass of wine and a few snacks.
When we started watching this show we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. I don’t want to spoil anything, but You will make you check your privacy settings on social media.
This show is a hidden gem! If you’re a fan of the show Supernatural and are up for a similar vibe with a few laughs and some fun characters, I recommend giving this show a watch.
I recommend this show for any Game of Thrones fans. It is one of the best shows I have ever seen. The way you get to watch the characters grow is awesome, and you get some truly impressive battles and fight action. This is a top 10 favorite.
How we Netflix and chill:
We usually order takeout on date nights so I can enjoy a night off from cooking and put my feet up (it’s nice to have a day off every now and again 😉). But when we’re on a tight budget, I go for a comfort food like my slow-cooked southern oxtails and gravy on a date night.
Our date night dinner faves are pizza and sushi. I’m more of a sushi girl, but Doug loves pizza, so we usually alternate. Tonight we’re having sushi from our favorite local spot. We’re pairing dinner with a glass of wine (sometimes we add candles) and after, we going to cuddle up for some Netflix and chill vibes and watch a show from our favorite picks list!
Doug and I like to share when we eat sushi, so I usually order a Loveboat for Two with a side of Chirashi Sushi, edamame, and seasoned rice. De-li-cious!
How do you enjoy date night with your person?
