With “The Holidays,” being my favorite time of year, I like to put up our Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving. This is our first Christmas in our new home, so I wanted to do something simple, but colorful and festive. Our great room is the most festive room of the house since it’s where we gather everyday.
For the fireplace, I love decorating the mantle with candles and little knick knacks I’ve found when I shop locally. I pull out my favorite holiday scented candles and pieces. This is also the perfect time to sit out that little crystal Christmas tree your parents gave you months ago, that maybe you had no idea what to do with.
I decided to do things a little differently this year, and instead of putting the Christmas gifts under our tree, we are putting them in front of the fireplace, just under the Christmas stockings. Since our lounge chair blocks the Christmas tree a bit, this allows us to still see the gifts, and I love how they look under the mantle with the Christmas stockings and all the festive Christmas pieces I have found over the years.
For our front porch, an oversized woven rug with a Christmas tree doormat and a green Christmas wreath because I love how it looks on our matte black door. You can see more of our home decor on my Instagram page here. Happy Holidays!
